Launch Party helps Calgary businesses take off CEDnewsroom

Startup Calgary’s annual Launch Party event is praised by alumni companies for boosting their success.

Launch Party is Calgary's largest celebration of technology and innovation. Participants get the chance to meet the city's up-and-coming startups and connect with influential entrepreneurs, innovators, investors and community leaders. The event also offers startups insightful workshops and information sessions to help grow their business.

The team at ParkChamp – an app which allows users to easily and quickly find and reserve underground, heated parking at a competitive price – credits Launch Party for sparking their partnership with Aspen Properties.

The companies made their initial connection at Launch Party in 2017, which led to ParkChamp securing its first building. Three years later, ParkChamp has 15 parkades with more than 1,000 parking stalls across Calgary and is set to expand into other cities.

“I think Launch Party, and everything that comes with it – the workshops and sessions beforehand, the follow-up conversations afterwards – is vital for any entrepreneur in Calgary to help gain exposure in the tight-knit startup community,” says Irshad Shariff, founder and CEO of Craft Tapp, a 2018 Launch Party alumni. “It is an opportunity to truly open yourself up to an array of people that you otherwise would not have met.”

This year’s Launch Party event takes place virtually on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Get your tickets here.
